What is going on with Mykal Vickkke? Don’t know why the Faalcuhn’s suspended him for 4 games. He’s only been indicted. Yeah, he probably knew about it and even enjoyed everything, but I think the team is rushing into things a bit too fast. His original and only statement so far is that he didn’t know it was going on in his house since he’s never around, laying the blame on his friends and family. This is possibly true. But, there are weird things like blood-stained carpets in his house. “Hmm…what’s that, Auntie Em? Billy had another bloody nose? Aww, that’s too bad. Look, I gotta go…bye.”
He’s most likely guilty, but at least wait until it’s official before suspending the guy. As much as I don’t like him, I think he deserves some time to defend himself…which will be a big waste of time, since he’s obviously guilty! He’s screwed….
So last night I was driving home and my brother told me that he was at Barnz and Nobbel waiting for the Hairy Pawter book to come out. Since it was on the way home, I decided to stop by and see what the fuss was about. Now, it was already 11pm, which is when the store closes, so I was really curious just to see the place open so late (there’s only like 3 BN’s that I know of that are open to midnight and that’s only on the weekends, 1 in Santa Monica and 2 in NY). Anyway, as I was walking toward the entrance, there weren’t that many people outside, but when I walked in…wow. It was so difficult to get anywhere. I was surrounded by people dressed up as witches, students, monsters, and HP’s. It was nerd fest 2007. Anyway, my brother wasn’t dressed up or anything and he was just there with his friends hanging out (He was embarrassed to be an HP fan). It was so crazy in there that I had to walk around the entire store twice before I finally found him. I had to avoid stepping on people sitting on the floor, photo shoots with HP, trivia contests, costume contests, and crafts stations. Kids were debating with each other about who the greatest character is, blah blah blah… It was so surreal in there. The sad thing was that it wasn’t just kids, there were plenty of adults in on the action, dressed up. Well, I was pretty much done with the freak show spectating, so I decided to go home. But, I had to stop by Ralf’s Market first. On my way in, I saw a few people with a HP book in their hand! I called my brother up and asked him if he wanted a copy and he of course said yes. It was cheaper and he wouldn’t have had to wait more than an hour. I got it without any wait, dropped it off with him and left. By this time, there was a decent line outside the store. Too bad for them, I thought. They missed out on the HP Party.
So I was in Hawaii the last week for my grandma’s 90th bday. Stayed at relatives’ places which was cool, since they live in the really nice part of town. Things were pretty busy, though. I ate papaya every morning for breakfast, did some surfing, snorkeling, hiking, swimming, playing tennis, eating, watching a movie, beach hopping, eating malasadas, banana boating, jet skiing. You know, the usual stuff…
I’ve put pictures of the trip on the right side of the page. Unfortunately, I didn’t take pictures of a lot of other things we did. Oh well…
Ok, so there’s some noise that’s going on with KB and the Lakers. I think I should summarize the relevant events.
Despite my hectic schedule, I just needed to get away. I’ve decided to post reviews of backpacking foods and snacks and other consumption related products. It’s primarily for my use, so I remember them, but of course, available to anyone who is interested. It could save you the trouble of buying something yourself only to find out you shouldn’t have. I’m starting with my most recent trip to the Cottonwood Pass in the Inyo National Forest, right next to Mt. Whitney. I’ll post up a recap and photos of the trip soon. In any case, there’s a new set of links on the right: “Outdoor Food Review.” Hopefully, I’ll be able to go out enough to make these reviews more frequent.
About 10 years ago, some Korean guy who wanted to enter this big singing competition in Korea approached my cousin to write/record a single. I helped out by doing some backup vocals for it. He was shy but a decent singer for a particular style. Anyway, he had some personal issues and never submitted his recording. We never heard from him again. Until now. Apparently, he’s quite big in the crossover genre in Korea (think Joshh Grobann). For some reason, my memory of working with him are quite distinct. He was a really nice guy with a unique voice. Anyway, I’ve got the recording on a cd somewhere.
